The transformation of Bibury Farm Barns from a collection of historic barns into five of the most desirable high-end holiday lets in the Cotswolds was a huge and ultimately hugely rewarding challenge.
Our brief was to create complete interior/exterior schemes including all bathroom, kitchen and lighting design and every detail of fit-out down to the art, linen and kitchen cutlery. We designed the five barns as individual, yet related, schemes each drawing inspiration from that particular barn’s history and form, and fusing that with contemporary styles from Artisan/Industrial to Scandi/Fresh. This allowed us to bring through different textures, hues and materials to create a set of living experiences that have been praised across the homes and travel press for being a new level in country luxury.
Working directly with the owners, Polly & George Phillips, we defined the look and feel for each barn and the scheme as a whole and then we proceeded to design, specify and procure every detail for each barn. We designed a range of bespoke furniture for use across the project, sourced vintage pieces including a collection of farm implements and agricultural paraphernalia, and commissioned art from local artists. Various items found on site such as old stable doors were repurposed into tables and wall art. This was all part of a desire to create spaces that would be hugely comfortable, yet surprising and individual, and fulfil Polly & George’s dream to redefine the self-catering market in the Cotswolds.
